A Climate Link between the Tropics and Northern High Latitudes (浮田 甚郎 ) 発表要旨 :

Three modes ENSO, the NAO and AO account for a substantial part of 
the NH climate variability across a range of time scales. Recent 
studies have suggested a climate link between the Tropics and 
northern high latitudes based on AGCM experiments. In this talk 
I shall present observational evidence for highly coherent inter-modal 
structure amongst those prominent climate modes for the latter half 
of the twentieth century. Observations indicate a strong see-saw in 
the SLP field between the North Pacific and Atlantic during the cold 
phase of ENSO, which in turn gives rise to the spatial and temporal 
characteristics of the AO.
